Description:

Polysuccinimide is a non hygroscopic, brownish yellow powder which is virtually insoluble in water. When connect with water, very slow hydrolysis takes place to produce polyaspartic acid salts. Depending on the pH, alkali accelerates the hydrolysis, resulting in more or less neutralized polyaspartic acid as a hydrolysis product.

Application:

The polysuccinimide can be copolymerized with other corrosion inhibitors to produce the dispersing agent to remove the scale formation. Through its slow dissolving process, it is able to break down existing sediment by forming polyaspartic acid salts. As a result, it can be also used in oil recovery processes as a scale inhibitor for sparingly soluble alkaline earth salts.

Besides its in excellent dispersity in papermaking, it is also a useful replacement for the bleaching stabilizers used in the bleaching of pulp, to prevent hydrogen peroxide’s catalytic decomposition as a result of heavy metals dissolved in the process water.
